L'Oreal Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution

If you've not heard about this product in the beauty blogging world then I don't really know where you have been, this has been one of the most hyped up products in a long time. I was never going to pick it up at full price just because it was hyped up but when Superdrug had a special offer on L'oreal skincare products a while back they were actually 2 for £5 on selected products and this was one of them even though it was actually more that £5 on its own... yeah I didn't understand the maths on that one either so I got this and some make up wipes.

I have been using this for a while now and I don't see what the big fuss is, I didn't think it took my make up off any better than any other similar product. I didn't like the fact it left a sort of sticky film over my face and the packaging more specifically how the product comes out is awful I have heard a lot of people complain about it but it sprays out everywhere but your cotton pad meaning you end up wasting a lot of product which is definitely a waste.

All in all not a brilliant product and definitely not one worth the hype around it. Have you tried this? What did you think of it?

How Soon Do You Book Your Holidays?*

David and I have only actually been on one holiday that we booked ourselves before we had Thomas and that was to Turkey a few months after we met and it was a bit of a spur of the moment decision that we decided to book a holiday and get away for a week it was back in those lovely days when I still lived at home and had lots of disposable income and David was living with a friend so didn’t have many bills so I think we had booked and paid for a holiday within about 2 months.

Fast forward a few years and now we live together and we have Thomas and with me only working part time our holidays have to be booked quite far in advance so that we have enough time to save up enough money. I already started thinking about next year’s holiday just after we got back off holiday this year and started putting a bit of money aside each month.

David really wants to take Thomas to Butlins at some point as he use to go there twice a year every year with his parents and I think it would be nice for him to share that and I would also like to go there myself as I have never been before. I have been looking at February half term breaks in 2014 and trying to get something sorted as I would like to have 2 holidays one earlier in the year and then one later on in the year only a week each but I think having 2 holidays like that breaks up the year nicely so you still have something else to look forward to later on in the year. Plus I think a 2 week holiday with Thomas would be a bit too much.

Do you book your holidays far in advance? I know we will have to now but I suppose it will get us use to having to plan our holidays around Thomas’s school holidays when he gets to that age.

Fab Frocks for the festivities

Like many mums since having a baby I'm not completely happy with my body and when it comes to this time of year and you are thinking about outfits for the upcoming Christmas parties I am filled with dread when it comes to scouring shops looking for a dress that will fit and flatter your body when the only dresses I seem to be able to find are skin tight body cons that cling to every lump, bumb and wobble bit. There doesn't seem to be that happy medium available that isn't skin tight but doesn't look like something your nan would wear.

Whilst I have been looking for my perfect dress for this years Chrismas party I thought I would share some beauties that I have found that will look gorgeous and really flatter your body shape.

These two lovely dresses are from ASOS and both under £50
I love skater style dresses as they cut in at your waist and then flare out and skim over your tummy and hips. So you can feel comfy all night even after a meal.

The dresses above are all from New Look and all for under £30
All 3 are again loose fitting over your tummy and hip area so they don't
cling to any bits you really don't want to.

These two dresses are from Miss Selfridge and these two dresses are
both fab for covering a wobbly tummy and are slightly longer
The blue dress is brill if you want to cover bigger arms but
with the arms being made from a chiffon material so still looks brill for a party.

I wish I could have all of these dresses they are all my type of dresses they cover my worst part my tummy but I wouldn't have to feel or look frumpy in them. I think I will go for the dark red dress from ASOS with a pair of heels from New Look that are a similar colour.

Give Personal This Christmas*

If you have a digital camera—whether it’s your smart phone or your DSLR—chances are you have a lot of wonderful photos of the people you love. Of course, this is a custom gift, so you don’t want to be last minute about it. Even though you can order up until December 19, ordering early is always better (and a bit cheaper too).

Lippie Loves - Kate Moss For Rimmel

Just lately I have been developing a real love for lipsticks I have been experimenting more with different shades from different brands you may have read a recent post where I tried red lipstick for the first time.

Well I recently bought 2 lipsticks from the Kate Moss collection for Rimmel and I have fallen in love with them.

They are beautiful shades perfect for this time of year for those of us who want to attempt a more Autumnal lip but are scared of really dark and full on colours. I really like how these look on my lips and the texture is really nice not drying in the slightest which is something that I hate with some lipsticks they can make dry lips look and feel so much worse than what they are.

Here is a quick swatch for you, apologies that is isn't on my lips but my face isn't up to much today. As you can see perfect colours for this time of year.

I really want to try more from the Kate Moss but I can't really find any of the shades I like actually in stock in local stores which is probably a good thing for my bank balance.

Get Fit For Christmas *

I have recently joined a gym and started back on Slimming World in order to try and look my best in time for Christmas. I started this year with the goal of loosing my baby weight and I near enough did it but ever since I stopped going Slimming World earlier in the year I have been eating rubbish food like it's going out of fashion and I was slowly putting weight back on and I knew I had to do something now before it got out of hand and I didn't want to be starting 2014 with the same goals that I started this year with or else I would feel like all my efforts this year had been for nothing.

As I said I made the decision to join the gym, I have been a member of a gym before and I always start out with good intentions and then end up quitting but this time I want to keep up with it so I am trying to to let it get boring and I don't want to stick to a strict schedule as I know that is how I get bored.

I thought I would share with you my mini goals in case you are wanting to shift a couple of pounds before Christmas.

Start watching what you eat
You don't particularly need to start dieting but cutting down on the rubbish you eat
and filling up on fruit and veg will definitely help you to start feeling better
in yourself and less bloated.

Get active
You don't have to join a gym to start doing more exercise every little helps
go for a walk around the block or take the stairs instead of a lift anything.

Use supplements
Using supplements such as protein shakes can help with your work outs as they can help with
weight loss, toning and muscle gain. You can get them from many places these days and online from sites such as www.multipower.com

Visualise your goals
I really think it helps me to have some sort of goal that I want to achieve when I lost weight before
my goal was to fit back in my pre-pregnancy jeans and my goal
this time is to look good and feel comfortable in a nice dress
for the Christmas party this year. I don't want to look like a frumpy old mum.

My New Love - Fragrance Direct

I can't believe that I have never bought anything from Fragrance Direct before, for those of you who might not have heard about Fragrance Direct it is a discount beauty website that sell branded fragrance, skincare and make up items and much more for discounted prices. I had heard a few people mention this site so I thought I would check it out for myself.

Any place that you can get discounted make up from and I'm all over that as you may have realised from a recent post I did on Poundland beauty bits.  I think everything I got was under £2 so complete bargains.

The nail polishes I got are as follows, From Revlon I got Ruby Ribbon, Classy and Poppy. I particularly like Classy it is such a pretty everyday colour. Then from Rimmel I got Cupcake Pink and Magnitise.

I am slightly disappointed with these two lipsticks as they look like they are going to be gorgeous colours but in reality neither of them show up brilliantly on your lips so I haven't bothered with swatches as they don't really show up. I'm sure I will still use them probably to go over other lipsticks to add a bit of a sheen to your lips. I am so glad I didn't pay full price for them.

I will definitely be buying more from Fragrance Direct in the future. I'd be daft not to look there first before shopping on the high street I could save myself a lot of money.

Getting Some Fresh Air

Thomas has been a little poorly recently with yet another cold he has picked up from Nursery and we have been staying nice and snug in our house but I thought we should both get some fresh air to try and get rid of the bugs. So we both got all wrapped up for a quick 10 minutes fresh air in the garden.

Thomas can be such a little poser when he wants to be, when he is in the mood to stand still for the camera which isn't very often these days sadly.

Having a little rest before we go back inside to warm up

October's Nonabox*

I am sorry that this post is ridiculously late but after a mix up with delivery I have only just received October's box myself but I still wanted to put up my review of the box.

So what did we get in October

Cloud B are back again with some lovely products, this month we got the Soothing Sounds From Nature Sheep which is a lovely little soft and squidgy sheep which as a voice box in the back with you can set on a timer to play soothing sounds for you baby and can be hung close by their cot so it can help to settle your baby off to the land of nod. Which retails for around the £24 mark so this in itself makes the box worth the money.

Next from Cloud B there is 3 burp cloths tied with a little ribbon and finished off the a little sheep rattle which is super cute and again another quality product from Cloud B.

Next we have a rattle/dummy holder which again is a lovely quality product which retails for around £15 but sadly Thomas is a bit too old to use this now.

I am pleased to see the Halo &  Horns baby moisturiser in the box as I was recommended to try their products out a while back on Twitter and we have been using their body wash so I will be interested to see if this is any good. I'm afraid we wont be able to use it for a while though as Thomas is in the middle of some sort of flare up.

In the box we also got 2 food items some Leibniz butter biscuits which are a hit with Thomas and he is very glad that we got these in the box. Also there was a pouch from Ella's kitchen I have always been a fan of food from Ella's kitchen but I'm afraid we wont be using this as it for stage 3 of weaning for 10months and just by feeling the pouch it feels like it is just puree which Thomas moved on from a long time ago.

There is a pedi wand which I am sure will come in useful for mummy pamper sessions when I have some time to myself.... Actually I think a nice long hot bath is on the cards for tonight.

Finally there are some samples of Tea pigs tea bags. I have tried teas from Tea pigs before and have really enjoyed them they are super tasty. I'm not sure I will be able to stomach these as I use to drink Lemon and ginger tea when suffering with morning sickness with Thomas. Hmm I wonder what the sell by is on these teas I may have to put them up just in case.

All in all the products we got in October are lovely and well worth the money for somebody in the last stages of pregnancy or early motherhood as again the products are aimed at young babies not somebody of Thomas's age but I will definitely be putting them up for future babies.

My New Toy - Morphy Richards Soup Maker

As you probably know I have recently started back on Slimming World and I was flicking through the latest magazine and came across an advert for the Morphy Richards Soup Maker and within about oh 10 minutes I had made my mind up that I needed one of these in my life especially now the it's getting colder again as we are well and truly in soup consuming weather.

Now I know what you are probably thinking why have you just wasted £40 on something that basically does what a saucepan and blender does. I am a lazy cook, I think that is why I went so off the rails recently with my diet I just lost all motivation in the kitchen and I just couldn't be bothered to cook something after being at work all day so I am all over a gadget that makes cooking easier.

Making soup couldn't be quicker and simpler all you need to do is chop up your veg and chuck it in with whatever stock you are using basically whatever you would put in a saucepan switch it on and forget about it until it beeps.

The soup maker has a 1.6litre capacity which serves up to 6 people and as you can see on the photo above there are markers both on the inside and outside to show you the minimum and maximum capacity.

The soup maker is so easy to use as soon as you plug it in it switches on and then the little light flashes between the different settings until your choose which one you need and then you press select and it gets to work.

You can choose how you want your soup whether you want it smooth or chunky. Once you have chosen your desired setting it the starts to heat up the contents cooking them through and then if you choose to have you soup smooth it then goes on to blend.

The end result is perfect tasty soup every time. The soup maker is also super easy to clean although you are warned that some things can burn on the bottom but I haven't experienced that yet but if it does happen then in the instruction booklet it gives you advice on the best way to clean it.

I know I said the soup maker is perfect for this time of year but you can also use it as a juicer and to make smoothies so it will come in useful during the summer months.

I am so glad that I decided to buy this it has fast become my new favourite toy and I can't wait to experiment with lots of different soup recipes. So now I have no excuse for not eating properly when it is so easy and quick to make a tasty healthy meal.

Breastfeeding Bribery

Unless you have been away from all social media over the last couple of days you will have heard about the new "incentives" that are being introduced to try and get more mums breastfeeding.  Researchers from the University of Sheffield have thought up a new scheme that will see mums getting £120 worth of breastfeeding vouchers if they breastfeed for the first 6 weeks of their babys life and then a further £80 if they continue to breastfeed until 6 months.

Have you ever heard anything so ridiculous in your life?

Last year I wrote a post about my breastfeeding experience I wrote about how it wasn't a positive experience with me it didn't matter how much I desperately wanted to continue with breastfeeding Thomas I just couldn't I was in a lot of pain already recovering from a caesarean and then add to that the pain I was experiencing because Thomas wouldn't latch on properly or stay latched on. We had lots of help but we just couldn't get it to work for us. In the first week I felt like I had failed as a mum because I couldn't even feed my child in the most natural way.

I swapped to bottle feeding it wasn't an easy decision I cried to David because I so didn't want to turn to the bottle but it was the best for Thomas he would then get the food and nourishment that he needed and he has now grown in to a beautiful healthy little boy.

Becoming a mum for the first time is a scary and sometimes difficult experience to begin with if we can't breastfeed, like I said many mums feel like they have failed at the first hurdle and many beat themselves up about it. Why should we be made to feel worse when one mum is getting money for doing something that you can't physically do?

Throwing money at mums to try and get more to try breastfeeding is not going to work. You have got to want to do it. Personally I think giving money or vouchers is a disgusting bribe. How about spending money on classes for pregnant women who want to know more about breastfeeding, who are thinking about doing it but want to know more. Why not work more closely with mums that do really want to do it, spend more money on having more people on the labour ward  who can spend more time with new mums not just a quick 10 minute visit. Most mums need a lot more help than a quick visit to get to grips with breastfeeding.

Yes I had a negative experience with breastfeeding Thomas, does it put me off trying again in the future? No not at all because it is something I would love to do. Do I want vouchers so I can go shopping if I manage to do it? No I don't the fact that I can successfully breastfeed my baby will be payment enough.

Feeling Snackered*

"Popchips have recently revealed that we are a nation of ‘snackered’ workers (knackered + in need of food = snackered), meaning that the average worker is reaching for the snack cupboard at least twice a day to keep them going. ‘snackered’ workers are tucking into a pick-me-up at 11.30am – and again by 3pm, and over three quarters of brits agree a snack helps to boost energy levels!"

Ok has somebody got a camera on me at work? When I read that it was as if somebody had been studing my snacking habbits at work. I am definitely a snackered worker. I get to work at around 8:20 and most of the time I eat my breakfast at my desk and then by the time 11 comes around I am trying my hardest not to start snacking. I'm not alone though at various times in the day you hear the quiet rustle of biscuit packets and the crunch of crips and just hearing that sound makes you automatically think that you are hungry and you need to snack.

I'm not just saying this but crisps are my snack of choice I am a savoury person when it comes to snacking and plus eating a packet of crisps lasts longer than a quick biscuit.

Have you tried Popchips? If not why not? I love them and they are a fab snack if you are following Slimming World as they are only around 4.5 - 5 syns per pack and because they are quite big just having one packet of these makes you feel like you have had a good size snack and will leave you satisfied.

Can I pull off a red lip?*

Let me just start off by saying I am not a fan of bright lips on myself, on others they look fab and I am always jealous of those who can pull off these beautiful bright lips but for me they scare me. I just don't feel that they suit me at all and I always feel so self conscious wearing a brighter lip colour I normally stick to pinks and paler colours. I also think that people might think I look silly as they aren't use to seeing me with such a bright colour on my lips.

I was recently sent Devils Darling from Smooch Cosmetics to try out now I wasn't asked which colour I would like to try so when I opened it I was a bit shocked at this scary red lipstick that appeared before me when I took off the lid.

Now I must say I do love the shade it is a classic red lipstick a pure red. My only problem with this lipstick is that is smudges even with Lipcote over the top as soon as you talk, eat or drink it's moved. now I know this isn't normal of Smooch lipsticks because I have tried lipsticks from them before and never had this problem. Or am I missing a trick? is there a better way to apply bright colours so that they don't smudge?

Look how beautiful the colour is

I'm still undecided about red lips on me, I know it will never be an everyday colour maybe I might dare to wear it out over the Christmas period.

Enrapture Encode Totum Styler Review and Giveaway

Every so often they is a product that creates a big stir in the blogging world and a couple of years ago it was the Enrapture Encode Totum Styler and yes I know I am late on the band wagon but I am not one to spend a lot of money on something just because there is a lot of buzz around it and back in the day it was retailing for around £79.99 which is far more money than I would ever spend on a beauty item.

When I was recently alerted to the fact that it was being sold in Home Bargains for under £20 there was no question about it I had to get it. (Check out here you may still be able to get it for a bargain price)

So what makes the Totum Styler so good? Well the barrel of the wand is split in to three sections and by using the heat control you can change the heat settings for each individual section which allows you to create soft waves, a slightly more defined curl and then tight ringlets. As my hair doesn't hold a curl brilliantly I tend to do either all the 3's If I need it to last a long time as they do drop out after a while in to a nice wave or if I am just going out for a short while then I choose 1-2-1 and I find that gives a really nice wave.

I really love the curls that the Totum Styler gives my hair and I love the fact that you aren't stuck with one type of curl. I also love that the styler has a flipper I find tongs with these so much easier to use as you can just keep your hair in place, I think that is why I didn't get on the the Babyliss Conical wand I just felt it made and already difficult task (For me) even harder.

In the box you also get a heat protecting pouch to store you Styler when not in use which also unzips in to a heat protecting pad. There is also a little booklet which shows you how best to use the different settings to create your perfect curl.

I am very excited to be giving one lucky reader the chance to win an Enrapture Totum Styler for themselves as an early Christmast present!!

All you need to do is follow the instructions on the Rafflecopter widget below. I'm afraid the giveaway is only open to the UK all entries will be checked and modified so now cheating! The giveaway will be open for 1 month so that you will be able to get it in time for Christmas.

A/W Bucket List - Make Lots of lobby - Done

Woohoo I have ticked off another thing on my Autumn Winter bucket list and I have made a big batch of lobby. You know it's turning to winter when all you crave is a big steaming bowl of lobby. The best thing is that it is completely Slimming World friendly! Yep I have started back on Slimming World again. For the past couple of months my diet has been shocking and it's gotten to the point where I am constantly eating crap and I just feel so uncomfortable in myself and permanently bloated. So I knew it was about time to get something done.

In case you have never heard of Lobby before it is basically what we call stew where I live. I haven't actually made it since Thomas has been eating proper solid foods and he tried some tonight and he loved it and basically helped me eat it hence why he is floating around on the photo waiting for me to feed him some more so I will definitely have to give him his own bowl next time I make it.

What is your ultimate winter dish?

October Birchbox

You may have seen in recent posts that I gave in and subscribed to Glossybox again after seeing various other bloggers and Youtubers posting what they got in their boxes month after month.

I think I prefer the packaging to the Birchbox it's just so much neater that the shredded paper you get in the Glossybox plus you get the box which you can reuse and also a handy little bag that can be reused for many different things

So what did I get in my box?

I got a bottle of KMS Hair Play which is a dry shampoo, I'm a big fan of dry shampoos they are a god send to busy mums. I like this one it works well but smells terrible I'm sorry to say. The last KMS product I got was out of a beauty box and that was pretty good but I'm not sure where you can actually pick them up from as I would love to try more.

Yes there was a Laura Mercier product in the box, everybody has raved about this and I'm a bit meh about it. I'm not a massive fan of high end products (Mainly because I can't afford buy or try many) but I don't really see the appeal a full size of this costs £30+ so it isn't something I would ever buy again but I suppose it was nice but I just don't see the fascination

The next facial product we got was Dr Brandt Microdermabrasion skin exfoliant. I've not really looked in to these types of products maybe I should. I haven't really tried it much yet but first impressions are good but I'm afraid it isn't something that I would ever buy the full size of as it retails for £64 for 60ml.

Ultra Dex Interdental brushes this is the only product that I am disappointed with I would have much preferred to try the toothpaste to these but I suppose they will come in useful.

Next we have a product by Thebalm which is their stainiac lip and cheek tint. A rather nice product and like I said with octobers Glossybox I am pleased to be able to try a few more different cheek products. The shade is pretty light though and I have had to build it up quite a bit and I have pale skin.

I was super pleased to see another little tube of the Dr Lipp Nipple Balm I love this stuff it works wonders on my lips.

Don't want to wish time away but I am already looking forward to Novembers box.

Barry M eye shadow palette review

Today I wanted to talk about my latest eye shadow palette, recently I was in the market for a new eye shadow palett. Yes I know I had more than enough but I wanted to try something a bit different and whilst browsing in Boots I stumbled across this palette which is one of 3 new eye shadow palettes that Barry M have recent bought out the other two are called Smokin hot and Glamour Puss which look like lovely palettes but they are really dark smokey colour which scare me a little so the Natural Glow palette was the only one for me.

As you can see the palette consists of 6 eye shadows and a blush in cardboard packaging. Firstly let me talk about the packaging, I really like the look of the packaging there is a really good size mirror and it has a magnetic closure. My biggest bug bear with the packaging it that the fact that it does come in cardboard it isn't going to last very long before it starts to get grubby and scuffed very easily. It is also pretty hard to get the product properly I don't know whether you can tell from the photo but there is a bit of a gap between the eyeshadow pan and the cardboard cut outs they don't it flush together it can make it quite annoying when you swipe your brush in the pan.

With the palette you also get two of the foam applicators but to be honest I would rather companies stopped doing this because I never use them I just end up binning. Does anybody use these?

I have done a few swatches so you can get an idea of the colour pay off. The lighter colours aren't that great you really have to work at it to get a decent amount of colour on your lids but the darker colours are much better and work really well in your crease.

In the above photo I have swatched the blush on the first finger but to be honest I would never use this as a blush the shade is all wrong for me and it barely shows up anyway. I would rather loose the blush and fill the gap with a couple more shadows.

This retails for around £6.49 and you can get it from all Barry M stands. It's the first thing I have tried from Barry M besides nail varnish and I would definitely look in to trying more from Barry M.

The slightly annoying elephant*

The Slightly Annoying Elephant is the first ever picture book by David Walliams and it tells the story of a young boy who adopts an elephant through a zoo and little does he know his adoptive elephant will turn up one day to live with him.

The illustrations are done by Tony Ross and they are fab I much prefer these type of illustrations than the typical cartooney pictures you get in most childrens books these days.

This is a really fun book and Thomas and I have read it a couple of times and he enjoys listening to it and points to the pictures and it is a pleasure to read you know some times when your little one brings you a book and you feel like "ohhh not this again" well I'm like that with a couple of Thomas's books now but even after 4 times in a week I still don't mind reading it. Knowing that David Walliams wrote this book I'm imaging him reading it in my head perhaps that is why I'm not getting bored of it yet.

This book is available to buy from 7th November and will be available to buy from Amazon.

A/W Bucket List - Go to a fireworks display - Done

On the 24th October we ticked off the our first task of my Autumn Winter bucket list. We took Thomas to his very first fireworks display. I was a little nervous as Thomas gets a bit nervous with really loud noises, you can't do drilling around him because it scares him. He's sensitive is my little pud.

It's a shame the photos are pants but they are just off our phones I didn't want to lug my big camera just in case anything happened to it.

I took Thomas out of his pushchair when the fireworks started as I new he would get a little jumpy with the loud noises but after the first few he was mesmerized by them.

Look at those tired eyes, that's the only bad thing about fireworks displays is that they start too late for really little ones. We went to one at a local school but even that didn't start until after 7

Have you been to any Firework displays yet this year?
